In 1992, Amanda Bossard began her study of marine biology in Anchorage at Alaska Pacific University. Bossard started her commercial seafood career in 1999, when she began working on the F/V Sunset. The 65' schooner converted to a salmon tender was operated by Murat Aritan. He has been a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard and Aritan are now married and have come together to claim their place in their respective industries. They believe in conservative, sustainable managing of the renewable resources for seafood. Otolith was founded in Philadelphia by Bella Bossard, now the mother of two children with ages of 3 and 1 Bossard. She and her husband are separated by 5 months and more for her to be focused on her finances as well as her environmental goals.
